The Cubs are 1-6 since the Trade Deadline on July 31, when they dealt Ted Lilly and Ryan Theriot to the Dodgers, and the play on the field has looked less than inspired.

Gordon Wittenmyer: It didn’t take long for the bad to get ugly after Saturday’s trade of Ted Lilly and Ryan Theriot ushered in the Cubs’ efforts for 2011 — not to mention a few more rookies on the roster.

The recent trade that sent Ted Lilly to the LA Dodgers is a win for LA and a loss for the Cubs, though the move of Lilly certainly wasn’t unexpected. In the trade, which also sent Ryan Theriot to the Dodgers, the Cubs received second baseman Blake DeWitt and two low-level minor leaguers.

Ted Lilly did not get a decision in the Cubs' 6-1 loss to the Astros on Tuesday. The question now is when — and for whom — Lilly's next start will be.
