The May 2012 Chicago Cubs schedule will feature ten series, five of which will occur against NL Central opponents. The Cubs will open their interleague schedule with a three-game home series against the Chicago White Sox from May 18 through May 20. The Cubs have off-dates on May 10, May 24 and May 31.

The Chicago Cubs finally came through in a one-run game, beating the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 on a walk-off base hit by Joe Mather on Monday, April 23. Giving the Cubs a second win in nine games, Mather's clutch hit allowed fans to breathe at least a temporary sigh of relief. While many games in the early part of this season have seen Chicago lose leads, it was great to see the team finally come …

Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm pretty confident when I say that the 2012 Chicago Cubs will never have to worry about accusations of steroid usage amongst the players on their roster. What I'm starting to wonder is whether Sammy Sosa will be recognized for hitting more home runs in one season than this entire 2012 roster.

While departing Chicago with a .070 batting average is not the way Marlon Byrd, or any of us, wanted his Chicago Cubs career to end, I have nothing but exemplary things to say about the man that played hard for the Cubs for two-plus seasons. If more players played with the enthusiasm, the toughness, and the attitude that Byrd does, Major League Baseball would be a lot better of a place.

CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs got off to a fast start against Mike Leake and Paul Maholm took over from there, using the early run support to stop a couple of losing streaks.

Dusty Baker likened his offense to the inconsistent April weather. On Saturday, it was cold. The Cincinnati Reds were shut down by Paul Maholm and managed just six hits in a 6-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs, who stopped a six-game slide.

The 2012 MLB season is still in its very early stages, so things can turn around from what we have seen so far in the first ten games for the Chicago Cubs. After ten games, the Cubs are only 3-7. The 2012 team does not appear able to win the division, but we fans do hope that they will start winning more than 30% of their games. It is still very early, but here is how I would grade this team so …

The Chicago Cubs should be well-rested for an upcoming series against the Miami Marlins that will occur from April 17 through April 19, 2012. The Cubs benched four of their starters in the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals on April 15. They had another off-day on April 16. Along with the fact that the Cubs will use their three best starting pitchers, there's a decent chance that they …

If the major league baseball season was akin to golf, then the Chicago Cubs losing two out of three games to the St. Louis Cardinals would be right around par for the course here in 2012. After a promising series opener against their long-time rivals, the Cubs made sure to remind us of where they currently sit in the grand scheme of things. While losing two-of-three to the Cardinals in St.Louis …

ST. LOUIS — Lance Lynn pitched effectively into the sixth inning and Yadier Molina had two hits and two RBIs, leading the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-1 win over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.

If only this could happen every day. The Chicago Cubs scored nine runs in their series-opening win over the St. Louis Cardinals on April 13, just one day after scoring eight in a win over the Milwaukee Brewers. I was very surprised to look on team statistics to find the Cubs fifth in the National League in runs scored. These two blowouts help to put them that high.

In 2011 Bryan LaHair and Ian Stewart combined to hit two home runs at the major league level. The Chicago Cubs are hoping for a much higher total from the pair of corner infielders this season. Each delivered on Friday, April 13, leading the Cubs to a 9-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. LaHair's grand slam and Stewart's three-run shot provided most of the team's offense and gave Cubs fans …
