The Chicago Cubs have placed right-hander Brian Schlitter on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder impingement and recalled righty Mitch Atkins from Triple-A Iowa. Schlitter, who began the season at Iowa, had a cortisone shot on Saturday, but his shoulder didn’t improve enough and the Cubs need pitchers in the bullpen.
