The Chicago Cubs completed the first month of their 2012 MLB season with a 6-4 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on April 30. The Cubs finished the month with an 8-15 record. That's poor enough for sole possession of the National League Central's worst record.

After an excellent spring, Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Chris Volstad has not had a good start to the 2012 season. With a record of 0-3 and a 6.14 ERA in four starts, Volstad will have to pitch better for the Cubs to claim a series win against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, April 30.

After seeing the Chicago Cubs struggle through most of April, I thoroughly enjoyed watching them come from behind in the ninth inning to win for two consecutive nights. I found it even more satisfying to see the wins happen against the Cubs' biggest rival, the St. Louis Cardinals.
